Even d conc. NH3 is formulated as NH4OH i.e ammonium hydroxide-a solution of conc.or aq.NH3.
due to the size n charge density-
Ag+ is a soft centre
I- is a soft centre
Cl- is hard centre.
By HSAB principle soft-soft or hard -hard interactions r stable ovr soft-hard ones.
Due to this AGI  has strong ionic nature n high lattice enthalpy while AgCl has more covalent nature n low lattice enthalpy which gets easily broken down in aq.NH3. to give NH4Cl.
