Neuron composed of three major parts namely dendrites, axon and cell body.
There are five types of neurons on the basis of number of axon and dendrites.
Multipolar neuron :
- They have one axon and two or more dendrites. They are found in the cerebral cortex.
Bipolar neuron :
- They have one axon and one dendrite, They are found in the retina of the eye.
Unipolar neuron :
- They have one axon only. They are only found in the embryonic stages.
Pseudo unipolar neuron :
- They have one axon that branches into two. One of them appears like dendrites.
Apolar neuron :
- They have no definite dendrons or axons.
