Yeast contains single chromosomes and its cell division occurs through fission and/or budding.

• These are eukaryotic single celled micro-organisms abd comes under the category of Kingdom Fungi.

• Yeasts are unicellular organisms but evolved from the multicellular ancestors, with some species having the ability to develop some multicellular characteristics like for example, by forming strings of connected budding cells which is basically known as pseudohyphae, or in other words, the false hyphae. 

• These vary greatly in sizes i.e., depending on species and environment, typically measuring 3–4 µm in diameter although some can grow to 40 µm.
