The electric cell which we use in torch is known as dry cell. It is called dry cell because it does not contain any liquid chemical. The electric cell is a cylindrical device having a small metal cap on one side and a metal disc on the other side

in torch light series combination is used.

Sometimes an electric bulb does not glow even if it is connected to a cell by wires without any gap in the circuit. This can happen if the bulb has got fused. When the filament (thin wire) of a bulb gets broken, the bulb is said to be fused. ... The switch is a simple device which is used to 'open' or close a circuit.

Explanation:

The combination of cells used in a torch is called battery in torch series , the combination of cells can be defined as negative terminal of the first cell connected to the positive terminal of the second cell and so on.

No the torch won't glow if any one of the cell is removed from the the torch's circuit as the electricity flows from the positive terminal of the second cell to negative terminal of the first cell and so on then goes through conductive material of the circuit that's why it glows but in absence of one cell the flow of electricity from positive terminal to the negative terminal of another cell won't be there. Hence it won't glow.
