Two types of autonomic nervous system are:
(i) Sympathetic nervous system : it prepares the body for intence physical activity and is often referred to as fight-&-flight response.
(ii) Parasympathetic nervous system: it has almost exactly opposite effect and relax the body and inhibits and slows many high energy functions.
