If there were no wolves around, the food chain would get disturbed as the wolves eat animals like deers. No wolves will eventually result in the increase in the population of deers, and would affect the environment severely as the increase in population means more food is required. Deers are herbivores they eat plants etc, as the increase in the population of deers will result in more consumption of food which would lead to less food for other animal communities and a unbalance food chain would be formed. Therefore the absence of wolves will destroy the whole process of food chains.
