3 endocrine organs are as follows:

1. Hypothalamus

2. Pituitary gland

3. Thyroid

The main functions of these glands are as follows:

1. Hypothalamus:

It secretes hormones responsible for stimulation or inhibition of the pituitary gland.

For example ; Somatostatin is secreted from Hypothalamus which inhibits secretion of Prolactin from Pituitary. On the other hand, "Prolactin stimulating hormone" is responsible for stimulation of pituitary to secrete Prolactin.

Other hormones secreted are

  • Somatocrinin
  • Vasopressin
  • Oxytocin, etc.

2. Pituitary gland:

It secretes various hormones responsible for maintaining the homeostatis of the body . It can stimulate the thyroid gland, testis, ovary, and many other endocrine organs.

Hormones secreted are:

  • Thyroid Stimulating Hormone
  • Follicle stimulating hormone
  • Lutenising Hormone, etc.

3. Thyroid gland:

The hormones secreted from this gland is responsible for maintaining the BMR , the body temperature, heart rate and metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins, etc. It also maintains Calcium homeostatis.

Hormones secreted are:
