Two species of rhino in Asia—Javan and Sumatran—are critically endangered. A subspecies of the Javan rhino was declared extinct in Vietnam in 2011.
The Great African Black and the Great African White are two types of species of rhinoceros out of the five endangered species mentioned by E.P Gee.
EXPLANATION:
Edward Pritchard Gee was an Honorary Forest Officer in Assam. He was a British scientist with a keen interest in wild life. During his stay in the Assam tea estates he came across the almost dwindling population of rhinos in the area. His intensive research on rhinos led him to establish the five endangered species of rhinos still surviving in the world.
Among them the two major two-horned rhinos were the Great African Black and the Great African White. The three more species are Asian. The African white is the largest in size, followed by the Indian.
