Plants exhibit autotrophic mode of nutrition.

=>In this type of nutrition plants synthesize their own food from inorganic raw materils such as carbon dioxide and water . This process is called photosynthesis and is shown in green plants.

There are two types of autotrophic nutrition:

Photo autotrophic nutrition:

Sunlight is the energy resource. The raw materials are turned into food with the energy derived from sun e.g. green plants

Chemo autotrophic nutrition:

The same as photo autotrophic nutrition but the energy resource is the organic and inorganic compounds.(energy derived from their decomposition)

e.g.cyanobacteria,ferrous bacteria etc. basically iron- oxidising bacteria and nitrogen bacteria.
