Examples of primary sources: Oral histories. Oral histories are accounts given by a person of events earlier in their life. Often, they are taken by family members, historians, archivists, or others who interview older people in an attempt to document events and lives that might otherwise be forgotten.

The oral histories are documentation of events of a person by the person's family, historian or an interviewer. This documentation is useful for retrieving any sort of information about the person at a later time. There are different methods to record oral histories.

Autobiographies are the written books of recording the event in a person's life. Photography can also be used to record oral histories. Maps explain the difference in geographies of the land over centuries.
