There are three types of meristematic tissues in plant

➡️ Apical Meristems – These meristems are located on the tip of the root, stem etc.

➡️ Intercalary Meristems – The intercalary meristems are located at the internodes or the base of the leaves.

➡️ Lateral Meristems – The lateral meristems are present on the lateral side of the stem and root of a plant.

Answer:

Apical meristem (at the tips): also known as the “growing tip,” is an undifferentiated meristematic tissue found in the buds and growing tips of roots in plants. Its main function is to trigger the growth of new cells in young seedlings at the tips of roots and shoots and forming buds.

Intercalary meristem (in the middle): It is a type of meristematic tissue associated with the growth in length in the middle position, thus the name. In particular, it is made up of meristematic cells that divide mitotically in the stem at the base of nodes and leaf blades. The growth at this point is referred to as intercalary growth.

Lateral meristem (at the sides): a meristem (as the cambium and cork cambium) that is arranged parallel to the sides of an organ and that is responsible for the increase in diameter of the organ — compare apical meristem, intercalary meristem.
