The ocean water in the polar region is colder and therefore denser. Being lighter the warm water starts flowing on the surface of ocean from the equatorial region to the polar region and the cold water starts flowing from the polar region tutorial region below the surface of the ocean. Such flow of ocean water forms ocean currents. Ocean currents help in maintaining the ocean temperature.
