Writer’s Building

Writer’s Building is the secretariat building of West Bengal located in Kolkata. Originally served as a building for British Writers during the colonial era of India. Served as the office of chief Minister of the Government of West Bengal until 2013.

The building has gone for several extension and modification over the years which was originally designed by Thomas Lyon back in 1777.

The building is considered as one of the best among the British constructions. It consist of giant crowned statue of Minerva, a roman goddess along with the statues of Zeus, Hermes, Athena and Demetere.
