The thin (generally invisible) layer of aluminum oxide corrosion on aluminum protects the aluminum from further corrosion. It will even allow aluminum to resist nitric acid because nitric acid is a very strong oxidizer that actually strengthens the corrosion coating. Other acids dissolve aluminum easily because they also dissolve aluminum oxide.

Zinc and Aluminium are such metals ..... This is because their oxides form a layer over metals surface and are not flaky or powdery. So don't get removed easily and protected the inner layer ... hence the corrosion is not proved to be wasteful .
