Rice is the staple crop of the majority of people in India and India is second largest producer of rice in the world after China.
Rice is also a Kharif crop so it needs a climatic conditions of 25° C and a rainfall of above 100cm in a year.
So it is grown in Coastal areas of India , north eastern , in northern plains and some deltaic regions .
This shows they are favourable to alluvial soil...
