In an oxidation - reduction reaction, also termed as redox reaction, electrons move between atoms.
→ In an oxidation reaction, there is a loss of electrons (cations), whereas in a reduction reaction, there is a gain of electrons (anions).
→ Oxidising agents help in oxidation. They are elements or compounds that accept electrons. Reducing agents help in reduction. They are elements or compounds that give electrons.
Hope this helps! :)

☺ Hello mate__ ❤
◾◾here is your answer.
✒ OXIDISING AGENT :--
Some substances are capable of adding oxygen to others. These are known as oxidizing agents.
✒EXAMPLE OF OXIDISING AGENT:--
1) alkaline potassium permanganate
2) acidified potassium dichromate

✒REDUCING AGENT :--
The substance which loses electrons to the other substance and gets oxidized to the higher valency state is known as reducing agent.
✒EXAMPLE OF REDUCING AGENT:--
1)potassium nitrate,
2)nitric acid.
