Chlorophylls are the main pigments present in the leaves which also gives it a green colour (green photosynthetic pigments), five types of chlorophyll have occurred other than plants and bacteria, they are: a, b, c, d and e. Another one, are carotenoids which also provide the colour to the leaves and have the deviation form brownish to reddish in colour. They are the pigments which are highly associated with the cholorphylls inside the chloroplasts but actually occur inside the chromoplasts. Along with the chlorophyll b the carotenoids are also known to be as the accessory pigments because they hand over the received energy absorbed by them to the main pigments of chlorophyll a. Carotenoids have conjugate double and single bonds in carbon formation. Classified usually into two types, xanthophylls and carotenes.
