Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, Jyotirao Govindrao Phule, Swami Dayananda Saraswati and Mother Teresa were some prominent social workers of India who protested against untouchability.

Dr. Ambedkar was an untouchable himself and fought tirelessly for the rights of the lower castes in India and established Bahishkrit Hitakarni Sabha for spreading awareness among the low castes.

Jyotirao Govindrao Phule belonged from a poor Marathi family and he established Satyashodhak Samaj to bring justice and equality for the untouchables. Swami Dayananda Saraswati and Mother Teresa worked for the betterment of the lower castes.
