it depends on the class of fire the extinguisher which is used to extinguish fire....
class A fire are extinguished by Water
class B fire are extinguished by AFFF (FOAM TYPE )
Class C fire are extinguished by dry chemical powder or CO2 powder
class D fire are extinguished by Using special type dry chemical powder type extinguisher in which chemical such as NaCl..CuCl..etc can be used
class E fire are extinguished by dry CO2
class K fire are extinguished by Wet Alkaline chemical type extinguisher
