The San or Saan people are the ancient Aborigines of Kalahari desert representing the first nation of Southern Africa, their territories span Botswana, Namibia, Angola, Zimbabwe and South Africa. The ancestors of the hunter-gatherer San people are considered to have been the first inhabitants of what is now Botswana and South Africa.

Ehe San/Saan switched to farming because of government started modernization programs. The lifestyle may have changed but they have provided very wealthy information in anthropology and genetics.
