The 'Ain-i-Akbari' was written by Abul Fazal, the minister and one of the nine jewels of Akbar's court.

Ain-i-Akbari' was divided into five volumes. The first volume deals with the family of the emperor. The second gives details about the imperial servants, the military and the civil apparatus.
