The pulmonary veins carry oxygenated blood from the lungs into the left atrium where it is returned to systemic Circulation.

The right ventricle pumps the blood to the lungs were it becomes a oxygenated .

(i) Pulmonary veins are the blood vessels which carry oxygenated blood from lungs to the heart. A pair of pulmonary veins carries oxygenated from each lung (right and left) to the left atrium of the heart.

(ii) A human heart is composed of four chambers two upper atria and two lower ventricles. The right atrium accepts deoxygenated blood from all parts of the body through the vena cava vein. The right atrium then empties its blood into the right ventricle.

The left atrium accepts oxygenated blood from lungs through pulmonary veins.

(iii) The left atrium then pours its blood into the left ventricle. The left ventricle pumps this blood (oxygenated) to all parts of the body through the aorta (largest artery).
