The french society was divided into 3 estate:

1st estate consisted of clergy
2nd estate consisted of nobility
3rd estate was again divided into three groups.

First group consisted of big businessmen,courts official,merchants,lawyers, etc.

Second group consisted of peasants and artisans.

Third group of consisted of small peasants, landless labour,servants.
