Egg apparatus comprises 3 cells, which are 2 synergids and one egg. It is situated at the end of the embryo- sac nearer to the micropyle (the opening via which pollen nuclei move in the ovule.)

The synergids are supposed to aid direct the pollen nucleus to the egg cell as the part of the procedure of double fertilization, which is the characteristic of angiosperms.
