Faxian is a Chinese Buddhist, was one of the pilgrims who visited India during the reign of the Gupta emperor Chandragupta II.
He started his journey from China in 399 and reached India in 405.
He accompanied Mahmud in his conquests to South Asia.
Al Beruni was the First Muslim Scholar to study India and its Brahmanical tradition.
