Question:
Name the constituent radiation of electromagnetic spectrum which is absorbed from sun light by ozone layer.
Answer:
Ultraviolet ray is the constituent radiation of electromagnetic spectrum which is absorbed from sun light by ozone layer.
The ozone layer is situated between the stratosphere and the troposphere. It is just below the stratosphere and just above the tropopause. It is thick layer of O₃ of all about 40 km from the tropopause. It acts as a protective covering on the earth's atmosphere and saves us from the harmful ultraviolet ray and x-rays coming from the sun. It bounches back the ultraviolet rays and x-rays while they try to enter to the earth's atmosphere.
