Have a look at these rarest of rare dog breeds that you hardly have heard of before! You won’t find these dog breeds walking past you near the shrubs, they aren’t so common. Don’t look for these, the next time you visit any dog park, some of them are so rare that they are only a few ones left in the entire planet. Here goes the list of world’s rarest dog breeds with pictures:

Bergamasco Shepherd

The Bergamasco shepherd dog, a native of Italy is used for guarding sheeps and cattle. The 2004 UK Kennel Club survey stated that there were only 10 living dogs which was too little to draw any conclusions.

Thai Ridgeback

It is an ancient dog breed that was used as a protection dog. The majority of the dogs are found in Thailand but there are less than 100  registered with the USA parent specialty club.

Peruvian Inca Orchid

A native of Peru, Peruvian Inca Orchid is a hairless dog. It is a great watchdog but rarely found in the urban areas.

Caucasian Ovcharka

These are strongly boned muscular dogs that can grow upto 75cms in height. The vast majority of Caucasian flock guardians are considered “rare breeds” in the U.S.

Azawakh

An African dog having an extremely slim and thin appearance. However, this breed is not so commonly found everywhere.

Bedlington Terrier

It is a small dog breed that resembles a lamb in appearance. The Bedlington Terrier has spread to different parts of the world but still today they remain a rare breed.

Estrela Mountain Dog

They are a fearless dog still struggling to have their presence felt in various parts of the world. They are quite common in their native place but extremely rare in other places.

Grand Basset Griffon Vendéen

These are one of the oldest dog breeds having its existence from the 16th century. This breed is extremely rare with only 289 live Basset Griffon Vendéens (varieties combined) present in the 2004 UKC survey.

Catahoula Leopard Dog

It is a native of America popularly used for hunting wild boars. However, in recent times, this breed has declined in numbers.

Mudi

They are a rare breed of hunting dogs who are from Hungary. An estimation indicates that they are only a few thousand Mudi’s left in the entire world.
