There are two main parts in an e-mail address.
- User Id
- Host name/Service provider/Domain name
For example, [email protected] is an e-mail address where xyz is the user id that refers to the recipient's mailbox and yahoo is the service provider. Then, there is an at (@) sign that distinguishes user id from the service provider. Next comes the host name that is usually the name of a company or an organization.
The end of the host name consists of a dot ('' . ") followed by three or more letters (such as .com and .in) that indicates the top-level domain (TLD). This part of the host name indicates the type of organization or country where the host server is located.
