Wax can actually exist in all the states of matter while it's burning (if we exclude bose-einstein condensate and plasma).

So the wax is usually in solid form when the candle is not lit(or the unburnt part of the candle). Now when we burn the candle we can see that some amount of wax which is present near the flame melts and starts to drip down to the bottom. But it starts to solidify as soon as it comes in contact with a cold surface. So from this we come to know that wax can be present in both solid and liquid form.

Now when we light the candle we see that the flame keeps on burning. This is because the wax(which acts as a fuel for the fire to keep it burning) burns and turns into wax vapours. So this proves that the wax is present in all the states(which is solid,liquid and gas).
