In principle, PowerPoint slides can be split into three different categories, which can exist in their pure form or be combined with others:
- Text slides
- Conceptual slides
- Quantitative charts
TEXT SLIDES
Slides of pure text are very common, their content conveyed through words only. Individual thoughts or points are often listed one after another to make them easier to understand. These are known as bullet points.
CONCEPTUAL SLIDES
Conceptual charts visually display slides’ core messages, and are very easy to grasp. They enable audiences to understand a slide’s core statement with one single glance. Visuals not only highlight structures; they are also a good way of conveying dynamics. The individual graphic elements can in turn contain specific words, statements, lists or images (e.g. photos).
