The digestive glands in our body include:

  • Salivary glands
  • liver
  • pancreas

These are actually the accessory glands which also include gall bladder.Gall bladder just store the secretions of liver.

  • Salivary glands secrete saliva which also consists of mucin and few digestive enzymes and antibacterial substances.
  • Liver performs functions like emulsification,Storage of glycogen,metabolism of fats, proteins etc
  • Pancreas is a organ which acts like both exocrine and endocrine gland it also helps in digestion and regulation of blood sugar respectively.

a) Salivary glands – Salivary glands are present in the mouth and secrete saliva, which

contains salivary amylase, an enzyme that breaks down starch to glucose.

b) Gastric glands - Gastric glands are present in the stomach, and they secrete gastric

juice which contains enzymes that breaks down proteins to amino acids.

c) Intestinal or digestive glands - Digestive glands secrete digestive juices which breaks  down proteins

d) Liver – secrete bile juice and they help in digesting fats.

e) Gall bladder – store bile juice

f) Pancreas – Pancreas secrete pancreatic juice, which breaks down starch to glucose.
