Name the digestive glands and explain their functions science
Answers
Answer:
Hey there very long, but here is ur answer
Explanation:
There are three digestive glands which occur in the path of digestive system. They are as follows
1. Salivary glands:
These glands are total three in pairs which are present as 1 pair below the ears, 1 pair below the tongue and 1 pair on the floor of buccal cavity. They are responsible to secrete the first digestive enzyme known as saliva. Saliva has mainly two components as water and salivary amylase, the work of salivary amylase is to break the starch into dextrins. Saliva also has other functions as it reacts with the acid present on teeth which are secreted by bacteria and neutralises it so that it cannot cause tooth decay. It also moisten the food so that it can pass through food pipe easily.
2. Pancreas:
This the second gland in our body which releases two hormones as insulin and glucagon which control the content of glucose in our body, They also have a major role in digestive system, they secrete enzymes such as pancreatic amylase, tripsin and lypase. The salivary amylase act on starch in the food and the tripsin acts on the protein part of the food, the lypase act on fats in food and emulsify them into small fat globules and fatty acids.
3. Liver:
This the largest gland of our body which can grow itself if cut down.
Liver secreates the bile juice which mainly acts on the fats to emulsify them, it also makes the food alkaline( basic) in nature so that trypsin can act on the food.
Liver also has some other functions as it forms the urea from the amino acids(NH4 group), it realses some special cells known as kupffers cells to engulf the germs and bacteria in food, it also act as store house of glucose in form of glycogen.
THERE ARE MANY MORE FUNCTIONS OF THESE GLANDS BUT THEN THE ANSWER WOULD BECOME TOO LONG, SO I AM ENDING HERE ONLY, PLZ MARK THANKS AND BRAINLIEST THANKS;)
Answer:
The different glandsthat help in digestion in humans are-
a) Salivary glands – Salivary glands are present in the mouth and secrete saliva, which
contains salivary amylase, an enzyme that breaks down starch to glucose.
b) Gastric glands - Gastric glands are present in the stomach, and they secrete gastric
juice which contains enzymes that breaks down proteins to amino acids.
c) Intestinal or digestive glands - Digestive glands secrete digestive juices which breaks down proteins
d) Liver – secrete bile juice and they help in digesting fats.
e) Gall bladder – store bile juice
f) Pancreas – Pancreas secrete pancreatic juice, which breaks down starch to glucose.
