Answer:
- Bruce's
- 4X = Y
given,
- tiles used by Bruce = 1/4 sq. foot
- Felicia's tiles used, in a tabular form.
to find,
- whose tile covers the most area per tile
- the equation representing the area covered by Bruce, Y, in terms of the number of tiles he used, X.
solution,
1. number of tiles used by Bruce to cover 1 sq foot = 4
area per tile= 1/4
number of tiles used by Felicia to cover 1 sq foot = 9 (as shown in the table)
area per tile= 1/9
so, Bruce's tile covers the most area per tile.
2. number of tiles used by Bruce to cover 1 sq foot = 4
area covered per tile = 1/4
area covered by Bruce = Y
number of tiles used by bruce = X
to cover 1-foot sq, bruce uses 4 tiles
so, the required equation:
4X = Y
therefore, Bruce's tile covers the most area per tile i.e., 4X = Y
