Answer:

  1. Bruce's
  2. 4X = Y

given,

  1. tiles used by Bruce = 1/4 sq. foot
  2. Felicia's tiles used, in a tabular form.

to find,

  1. whose tile covers the most area per tile
  2. the equation representing the area covered by Bruce, Y, in terms of the number of tiles he used, X.

solution,

1. number of tiles used by Bruce to cover 1 sq foot = 4

area per tile= 1/4

number of tiles used by Felicia to cover 1 sq foot = 9 (as shown in the table)

area per tile= 1/9

so, Bruce's tile covers the most area per tile.

2. number of tiles used by Bruce to cover 1 sq foot = 4

area covered per tile = 1/4

area covered by Bruce = Y

number of tiles used  by bruce = X

to cover 1-foot sq, bruce uses 4 tiles

so, the required equation:

4X = Y

therefore, Bruce's tile covers the most area per tile i.e., 4X = Y
