The Golgi apparatus, also known as the Golgi complex, Golgi body, or simply the Golgi, is an organelle found in most eukaryotic cells. It was identified in 1897 by the Italian scientist Camillo Golgi and named after him in 1898.

Golgi body's equivalent structure in the plants is the dictyosomes.
The difference between the two structures named golgi body and the dictyosomes :
1. Golgi body is not present in huge number in a cell. It is present singly in a cell. Whereas dictyosomes are not present singly but in some numbers in the cell of plants.
2. Golgi bodies are formed by the stacks of cisternae whereas the dictyosomes are formed by individual cisternae.
