rate of diffusion depends upon the following four factors
Number 1 ) intermolecular forces:
Substances having week intermolecular forces diffuse faster than those having strong intermolecular forces
Number 2) size of molecules :
Big size molecules diffuse slowly than smaller size molecules for example Honey diffuses slowly in water than that of alcohol in water
Number 3) shape of molecules
regular shape molecules diffuse faster than irregular shape molecules because they can easily slip over and more faster
Number 4)temperature
diffusion increases by increasing the temperature because at Higher temperature the intermolecular forces become weak due to high kinetic energy of molecules
