Answer:

  1. Covalent compounds are non-metals bound together, made up of two electrons shared between two atoms. Ionic compounds have a high melting and boiling point, but covalent compounds have a comparatively lower melting and boiling point.
  2. The nucleus (center) of the atom contains the protons (positively charged) and the neutrons (no charge). The outermost regions of the atom are called electron shells and contain the electrons (negatively charged).
  3. Orbitals that have the same or identical energy levels are referred to as degenerate. An example is the 2p orbital: 2px has the same energy level as 2py. This concept becomes more important when dealing with molecular orbitals.
  4. Because the nuclear charge remains the same in each case, the element is still sodium or chlorine, but now we have Na+ , and Cl− ions. But because there is now a mismatch between NUCLEAR charge and ELECTRONIC charge, an ion results
  5. When a body is heated then relation between colours and temperature is according to Prevost's theory of radiation which states that everybody is emitting radiant energy in all directions at a rate depending only on the nature oil surface and its temperature e.g., when a body is placed in an enclosure (furnace) it would acquire the temperature of furnace and seem white means radiate white light. So it becomes first dark and then white.
