Hey dude here is your Answer------------------------ ✔️❣️✔️❣️✔️❣️✔️❣️✔️

-OH is the functional group. It represents alcoholic group. According to IUPAC rules, when the chemical formula has alcoholic group the IUPAC name ends with -ol. Since it has one carbon atom meth-ane,one hydrogen is replaced by alcoholic group so suffix -ol is added. So the IUPAC name is methanol.....

About Functional group:

  • Regardless of what is linked to them, functional groups are groupings of one or more atoms with different chemical capabilities.
  • Covalent bonds bind the atoms of functional groups to one another and the remainder of the molecule.
  • A functional group in organic chemistry is a substituent or moiety of a molecule that is responsible for the molecule's chemical reactions.
  • Regardless of the remainder of the molecule's makeup, the same functional group will experience comparable or identical chemical reactions.
  • The function of the hydrocarbon to which functional groups are connected is defined by a collection of atoms or bonds.
  • Alcohol, aldehyde, ketone, carboxylic acid, halogens, and double and triple covalent bonds are only a few examples.
