About Functional group:
- Regardless of what is linked to them, functional groups are groupings of one or more atoms with different chemical capabilities.
- Covalent bonds bind the atoms of functional groups to one another and the remainder of the molecule.
- A functional group in organic chemistry is a substituent or moiety of a molecule that is responsible for the molecule's chemical reactions.
- Regardless of the remainder of the molecule's makeup, the same functional group will experience comparable or identical chemical reactions.
- The function of the hydrocarbon to which functional groups are connected is defined by a collection of atoms or bonds.
- Alcohol, aldehyde, ketone, carboxylic acid, halogens, and double and triple covalent bonds are only a few examples.
