The basic fundamental particles of an atom are electron, proton and neutron.

• Electron - These are negatively charged particles which revolves around the main nucleus of the atom. It's mass is almost negligible.

• Proton - These are positively charged particles which are situated in the nucleus itself. It's mass is slightly more than the electron.

• Neutron - These are neutral particles with no charge and these are the heaviest particles also. The majority of the weight of an atom is fulfilled by these particles.
