EXPLANATION:

In 1935, the Crocker proposed that 'ethylene as the plant hormone' responsible for ripening, senescence, and abscission. They are produced in tissues from methionine.  

The plant regulating the 'ripening of fruit', abscission (or shedding) of leaves and opening of flowers is done by Abscisic acid.

It acts at trace levels throughout the 'life span' of plant. The ethylene is produced in all parts of plant including leaves, stem, roots, flower, tubers and seeds.
