The hormones secreted by the pancreas are Insulin, Gastrin, Glucagon, Vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) and Somatostatin.
Insulin regulates the blood glucose by allowing the body’s cells to take in and use the same. Gastrin helps in digestion by activating certain stomach cells.
Glucagon activates cells to emit glucose so that it can increase the blood glucose levels.
Vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) controls water secretion as well as intestinal absorption.
Somatostatin helps in maintaining glucose and/or salt balance in the blood.
