The Arctic Circle is the most important latitude that crosses North America.It is the northernmost point at which the sun remains continuously above or below the horizon for 24 hours.Due to which once each year at any location within the Arctic Circle the sun is visible at local midnight, and at least once it is not visible at local noon. These events occur exactly once a year in June and December respectively .

The Arctic Circle passes through the Arctic Ocean, the Scandinavian Peninsula ,Northern America,North Asia and Greenland. The Arctic Circle comprises of 8 countries: Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Alaska in USA, Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut in Canada, Denmark (Greenland) and Iceland (where it passes through an offshore island of Grímsey).
