Artificial selection has been practiced since the domestication of animals.Wild cows were domesticated for fulfilling the human requirements for milk production.Then after with the advancement of technologies, the breeders are practicing selection of animals having high genetic potential for producing next generation of high production performance. Many Breeds that we see today are all result of practicing continuous artificial selection and cow Breeds are also evolved by this way.Karan-fries a breed of cow is evolved by crossing Tharparkar and Freisan breeds of cows at NDRI,Karnal.Karanswiss is new developed breed having characters of both Saniwal & Brown Swiss. Rathi is developed by Tharparkar, Redsindhi Breeds that too are Examples of ARTIFICIAL SELECTION. Question like this are heartily welcome.
