Given:

North and South-East directions.

To Find:

Which angle will be formed between the North and South-East direction.

Solution:

We have 8 directions, in 4 are main directions and the other 4 are sub-directions.

The main 4 directions are,

  • North
  • East
  • West
  • South

And the 4 sub directions or Intermediate directions are,

  • North West,
  • North East,
  • Southwest
  • Southeast.

In the main directions, each angle is separated by 90⁰

And in intermediate directions, each direction is separated by 22.5⁰

So from north to southeast

North to South is 90⁰ and South to southeast angle is 22.5⁰

So 90⁰+22.5⁰ = 112.5⁰

The measure of an angle is greater than 90⁰ that angle is called the Obtuse angle.

So the angle formed between North and South East directions is

Obtuse angle, i.e 112.5⁰.
