Let's explore !

The muscles tissues are connective tissues found throughout the body. They have a special property of contractility. They are made up of cells known as muscle fibres. Their cytoplasm is known as sarcoplasm, ER is known as sarcoplasmic reticulum etc.

Muscles found in limbs:

These muscles are known as skeletal muscles because they are closely attached with the bones. They help in our movement by continous contraction and relaxation.

Moreover,

  • They have elongated and unbranched muscle fibres.
  • They have alternate dark and light bands.
  • They are multinucleated.
  • They work according to our wish (Voluntary muscles).
  • They have nerve supply from central nervous system.
  • They have abundant blood supply.
  • They contract and relax rapidly.
  • They get fatigued easily.

Muscles in lungs:

These muscles belongs to our internal organ and hence it is known as smooth muscle. Also known as non-striated muscles.

Moreover,

  • They are long, narrow and have tapering ends.
  • Alternate bands are absent.
  • They are uninucleated.
  • They work on their own. (Involuntary)
  • They have nerve supply from the autonomic nervous system.
  • They have scanty blood supply.
  • They contract and relax slowly.
  • They never get fatigued.

✏️ So, In the above ways they are different from each other in terms of structure and function.
