Answer:
When speaking of Market structure for electricity suppliers in SA, it is obvious that it can presently be categorized into three distinct structures.
Explanation:
In generation, the entire electricity supplier market structure can be broken down into three categories – Munic Generation , Eskom Generation and Eskom enterprise. Both Eskom generation and Eskom enterprises are distributed under the Eskom Banner.
The Munic generation distributes electricity generated to IPPs. Apart from this, some percentage generated is also exported by the SA authorities and boards. This number is accountable to around 30 percent of the overall power generated by them.
Further the generated power is then distributed to the consumer end and other smaller Munic distribution companies.
From the Eskom the generated power is basically supplied to the Eskom pool transmission. From here it is then distributed to the consumer end and Munic pool. Apart from this a big percentage of electricity generated is distributed to the Eskom Enterprises which is then supplied to various govt. agencies within SA.
