Nylon is a synthetic fiber that is also called as Nylon-6,6. It is a synthetic fiber so it is composed of different chemical compounds by polymerization process.

The polymerization of adipic acid with hexamethylenedimamine results the ‘formation of nylon’ polymer. Here both adipic acid hexamethylenediamine are monomer units nylon polymer.

The structure formula of adipic acid:

\bold{\mathrm{HOOC}-\left(\mathrm{CH}_{2}\right)_{4}-\mathrm{COOH}}

The structure formula of hexamethylenediamine:

\bold{\mathrm{H}_{2} \mathrm{N}-\left(\mathrm{CH}_{2}\right)_{6}-\mathrm{NH}_{2}}

Here both monomers combine with condensation polymerization.
