Work Done on unit charge q bringing it from one location to another location is the Potential difference...This potential difference is denoted as Symbol V...and its SI unit is Volt...

so we must have V = W/q -->(1)

unit of Charge q = Coulomb
unit of Work W = Joule

from relation (1) we have W = q x V

here unit of work done is Coulomb Volt..

So Work is the physical quantity having unit Coulomb Volt...
