Name the process that returns oxygen to the atmosphere.

Photosynthesis is the process by which plants make their food using chlorophyll present within them which aids in the trapping of sunlight.

Once this process is over, as its chemical formula suggest, the plants are useful to us because pure oxygen is once again returned to the atmosphere.
