The process used to harness nuclear energy is nuclear godson in which a large molecule is splitter into small molecular eg uranium Nuclear energy is a non conventional energy so it can't be exhausted and it doesn't pollute the environment like fossil fuel

The process used to harness nuclear energy these days is Nuclear fission.

Nuclear fission

- Nuclear fission is a nuclear reaction in which the nucleus of an atom breaks down into smaller nuclei and a large amount of heat energy that turn steam turbines and produce electricity.

- Uranium and plutonium are the most commonly used radioactive substances in nuclear fission reactions.

Two advantages of using nuclear energy in place of fossil fuels

1. Burning of fossil fuels result in carbon dioxide emission which causes global warming. Nuclear reaction does not produce carbon dioxide and so does not contribute to global warming.

2. Burning of fossil fuels like petroleum causes air pollution which does not occur with nuclear fission reactions.

Hope this helps.
