Mughal Emperor Akbar had abolished Jaziya tax to gain respect and support of the Hindus, but Aurangzeb imposed this tax in 1679 A.D. Answer: Aurangzeb, the sixth emperor, re-introduced and levied jizya on non-Muslims in 1679.
